If you would like to see us, come by the PPLT office. We are located at 106 Conference Drive, which is the Bastrop County Water Distrct #2 Building. At the stoplight at State Hwy 71 and Loop 150, turn south onto Tahitian Drive and take the second left, which is a gravel driveway. We are on the second floor. Colorado River Refuge
The Colorado River Refuge is open from dusk until dawn and is free to the public.
For the downstream location access (Cottonwood Kings Trailhead): From the stoplight at State Hwy. 71 and Loop 150 east of Bastrop, drive south on Tahitian Drive for 2 miles to Riverside Drive. Turn right and proceed 1.5 miles past the Pine Forest Golf Course. Riverside Drive changes to gravel surface at Akaloa Rd. Continue to Kaala Dr. You will see the Cottonwood Kings Trailhead on your left. This is a handicapped accessible entrance. The second, Two Bridges Trailhead, farther down the road on your left, has ample parking and room to picnic.
To access the upstream sections of the CRR: Exit State Hwy 71 just east of the Colorado River bridge (follow signs for the BISD Baseball Fields sign) and drive about 2 miles until you see Riverside Drive on the left. Turn left and you will see the Cliffhanger Trailhead and parking area on your left about 1/2 mile past the Cliffhanger Trailhead.
